I BUY LOCAL continues to operate as a free service for retailers

We will continue to operate as a free service for retailers

Right from the beginning (back in 2020) we had always planned to offer retailers a lengthy commission-free period on our platform. We took this decision because we wanted to support retailers throughout the coronavirus pandemic (and that’s not changed).

It is our view that businesses can – and should be – a force for good in the world. After all, what is ‘business’ but an agreement between two, or more, parties to exchange one thing for another?

So far, we have been successful in growing what we do without having to introduce any commission charges. We are proud of our approach and feel that we have played a part in supporting retailers throughout the pandemic. It is important to note that we haven’t been the only ones. Others in the public, private and third-sector have launched brilliant initiatives too. Together, we have all made a huge difference.

We are also very lucky to have received an overwhelming amount of support throughout our journey. Local businesses (Rather Nice Design), non-profits (Radio Bath), and universities (Bath Spa University) have helped us in so many different ways. There are definitely a few more people/organisations that we could mention here too. However, they have opted to remain anonymous for now (you know who you are).

It is because of this support that we’re able to continue to offer our platform to retailers for free. Thank you to everyone who has supported us so far.

We’re also excited to be building new services which will complement our existing offering. We aim to make it even easier for retailers to connect with local consumers and will be releasing more information about this soon.
